Perfect Is The Enemy of Good

“Perfect is the enemy of good,” Voltaire once said.

What a brilliant metaphor.

Because in our pursuit of perfection, we often end up putting off taking action.

We spend so much time trying to make a presentation, a dinner party, or a holiday plan absolutely perfect that, before we know it, we haven’t even started.

I wouldn’t call myself a perfectionist, but even so, I really struggled with writing this post.

It’s only a few lines, yet I wrote it, rewrote it, deleted it, ran it through AI, added things, took things out…

And in the end, it may not be perfect, but here I am.

Because there’s no such thing as “good enough” when you keep chasing something better.

There will always be a better version, a prettier one, a more polished one.

So, don’t wait for the perfect moment to take action.

Because life isn’t waiting.
